Haverfordwest County 0 – The New Saints 1

Adrian Cieslewicz’s superb first half strike earned champions TNS a narrow victory against Haverfordwest County at the LHP Stadium, Carmarthen.

This victory kept the champions’ unbeaten record intact, whilst Tony Pennock’s Bluebirds suffered their first taste of defeat this season.

Haverfordwest County made two changes from the win against Newtown. Alaric Jones and Ricky Watts start, Luke Tabone was unavailable as he is on international duty with Malta. Teenagers Fletcher Picton and Seth Woodhouse are added to the bench.

The dangerous wide man Cieslewicz showed his intention as he struck an early shot wide for the visitors, as the hosts stayed compact at the back.

Midway through the first period man of the moment Cieslewicz struck a wicked right footed curler which beat the outstretched Bluebirds’ goalkeeper Zac Jones for the only goal of the match.

The Bluebirds were 1-0 down at the break, in search for an equaliser in the second period as Jacob Owen’s squared ball in the box was put behind for a corner.

TNS nearly doubled the lead as Sion Bradley’s dangerously struck free kick crashed off Jones’ crossbar. Just before the hour mark the dangerous Cieslewicz had his goal-bound shot cleared off the line by Kyle McCarthy.
